"The future is unwritten."
- Joe Strummer
Let's write it...together!
Fifteen years into this occupation that turned into a career and passion and a purpose. And this year was a hard one with too much loss.
Research is moving faster than ever but not fast enough. That is where you come in.
I see firsthand the impact your donations have on research at large and on researchers individually. "We are trying and we are making real progress," is a refrain I hear often from researchers in the lab and what inevitably comes next is plea for me to share that message. So I am with you, my friends and family.
But funding remains a main barrier to progress.
You have power to change that and write a better future for those facing a cancer diagnosis!
Your investment matters. $1,500 can send an early career investigator to AACR's Annual Meeting to network and present their work. The impact of this cannot be overstated. Ask, last year's meeting Co-Chair and current AACR Board member Christina Curtis, a leading cancer researcher who was able to attend that same meeting because of someone's generosity back in 2009.
This year I will be in Philadelphia all marathon weekend cheering on survivors, loves ones, allies, and inspirations, in their efforts.
And I will be thinking about Ivy, Shenell, Alec, Gina, John, Erica, and my dear friend Erin. All who passed far too soon.
Continued thanks for your support!
