Members of the AACR Runners for Research team participate in races around the country to support the AACR and our more than 54,000 members who lead the effort to prevent and cure cancer.
This year, our signature 5K Run/Walk will be held in Orlando, FL, as cancer scientists, survivors, advocates, and others gather April 14 -19 for the AACR Annual Meeting 2023 to discuss the latest developments in the fight against cancer. The Annual Meeting 5K Run/Walk is a wonderful opportunity to bring together AACR members with the local Orlando community in an effort to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
We invite individuals and companies to join us for this event to unite for a cause and support healthy active lifestyles. Proceeds raised from the AACR Runners for Research 5K Run/Walk will go toward advancing research progress for the millions affected by cancer worldwide.

Join Erika & Rodney McLeod as they serve as Philanthropic Ambassadors to the 2023 Runners for Research 5K Run/Walk! Founders of Change Our Future Foundation, the Super Bowl LII Champion and his wife are committed to giving back and supporting AACR.
Through personal experiences with loved ones, the McLeods understand the power of research with hopes of finding a cure and spreading awareness. Through their many events such as Bowl-O-Ween, Race to 23K, Rise Up for Research and now via their youth development organization, Change Our Future has raised thousands of dollars to ensure the next generation of leaders, researchers and advocates have the skillset and resources needed to make a difference.
Join cancer survivor and songwriter, Terry Jordan as he serves as the Survivor Ambassador!
Terry Jordan has been diagnosed with cancer three times. Throat cancer in 2006, prostate cancer in 2015, and lymphoma in 2021. A United States Army and Navy Veteran, Terry spent much of his life in service to others. After his diagnoses of throat and prostate cancer, Terry opened Extraordinary Ballroom Dance Studio in 2015 and donated 100 percent of his earnings to cancer charities.
Since moving to Florida in 2019, Terry became a songwriter, started Uncommon Love Song Productions, recorded 12 songs in Nashville, and is donating 100 percent of his music royalties to raise funds for cancer research. Terry’s 12 songs, including the Grammy-nominated song “When You Come Back”, can be played on SoundCloud and Spotify.
After a diagnosis of lymphoma in 2021 and the return of his prostate cancer, Terry is dedicating himself to raising awareness of the vital role that “Research and Hope” play in cancer survival. Terry will be participating in this 5K shortly after he will have finished his 35 days of radiation. Terry says he wishes to “Radiate Hope” to other cancer patients and their loved ones.
